NWA Atlanta--March 22, 2014--Locust Grove, GA

110 people showed up in Locust Grove for Saturday Night Wrestling.  NWA Atlanta's general manager came out and did a recap of the previous show before the show started. While this showed a commitment to telling a long term story, it would have been better if the recaps had been given by the individual wrestlers during their promos and smack talk sessions in their individual matches.

Match 1: Zac Edwards vs. Rey del Sol
Winner: Zac Edwards

Zac Edwards did a pretty good job of trying to rile up the crowd, and he put on one of the best matches I've seen him put on in months. He showed a more aggressive side, and I think this suits him better than when he's just trying to be funny. He pinned Rey del Sol with a snapmare driver.

Match 2: Adorable Anthony Andrews vs. Fry Daddy
Winner: Adorable Anthony Andrews

The crowd really woke up for this contest, and it is safe to say that Fry Daddy is the most over wrestler at NWA Atlanta.  Fry Daddy got Anthony early with two headscissors take downs.  He followed up with an arm drag and then another.  Anthony threatened to go home, and the crowd yelled "Just go".  Fry Daddy was going to dive onto both BFF's outside the ring, but they moved.  Anthony tossed Fry Daddy back into the ring.  Anthony hit Fry Daddy with a backbreaker. Anthony had Fry Daddy in a bodyscissors, but Fry Daddy maneuvered into a pin attempt.  Anthony picked up Fry Daddy to finish him, but Fry Daddy countered with a headscissors take down. He followed up with an elbow drop, but only managed to get the two count.  Michael Stevens tried to interfere, and the action spilled out of the ring.  The referee started counting.  Anthony pushed Fry Daddy back towards the entrance, and jumped back into the ring.  He distracted the referee, so Michael Stevens could hit Fry Daddy and knock him out.  Fry Daddy was counted out.

The original NWA Atlanta Max Champion Cru Jones came out to talk about a possible return to NWA Atlanta, and he also wanted to talk about the youth wrestling program he's been working for.  Compound Wrestling Center in McDonough is accepting girls into their program starting April 8th, and girls will be able to train for free.  He went onto to talk about how women's collegiate wrestling was the fastest growing athletic field and the number of women's wrestling scholarships were unclaimed.  He also put his name in the hat to be a possible fifth member of the Wargames team.

Tyson Dean and Kurt Kilgore interrupted this part of his spiel.  Kurt Kilgore said "If he's not signed as a wrestler then why is he here?" and "It's not the best idea if you're not medically cleared to be in a cage match."  They accused him of hiding behind children.  Jones challenged that one of his wrestling students from the audience could pin Kilgore.  Kilgore in his usual sarcasm said "Will one of Cru Jones Make a Wish Foundation kids raise their hands?"  Then he chose a girl from the audience.  She pinned Kilgore pretty quickly, and Tyson had to pull him out of the ring.  It was pretty funny.  Cru Jones said "You just got beat by a 10 year old girl".  The audience laughed and had a lot of fun with that.

Match 3: Colt Callaway vs. Matt Sells (w/Johnny Danger)
Winner: Matt Sells

This audience is never quite sure how to take Matt Sells and his "hetero life mate" Johnny Danger. It's obvious they hate Matt, but they seemed stunned by the pair as they came out to "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness and proclaiming their status as "hair metal heartthrobs".  Colt Callaway is a blond blue eyed babyface that hearkens back to another era of pretty boy hero.  Matt's persona as arrogant party boy has really grown over time.  This match was an exercise in comedy that amused the audience with sheer silliness. Matt went a little over the top, but Johnny Danger did his part. He played ringside nuisance well. While the referee was distracted, he hit Colt Callaway in the face.  Throughout the match, Callaway sold well, and he's excellent at playing the "face in peril".  Sells put Callaway in an abdominal stretch at one point and played guitar on his abs.  Matt pinned Callaway after a DDT.

Match 4: Michael Stevens vs. Pain
Winner: Pain

Michael Stevens taunted Pain saying that "his team wasn't looking so good."  Pain answered Stevens with his fists.  Pain threw Michael into the rail. During the match, Michael Stevens would go over to his ringside companion Adorable Anthony and he would kiss him. The Black Widow, Pain's valet, would tell the referee to get them to break up their kissing which made the audience laugh.  Widow's grown into her ringside role this evening. She's on the side cheering her guys along, and she's making sure things are right when it comes to making sure the other side's representatives aren't cheating.  Pain won the match with a sit-out powerbomb, and Widow entered the ring to raise the hand of her champion.

Drew Adler came out and gave his piece about Matt "Sex" Sells.  "Locust Grove, I'm usually wrestling, but tonight I have business with the "Mattlanta" Champion.  Last time he rolled me up with a handful of tights. I say Matt, me and you April 26th for the NWA Atlanta Max Championship."  Johnny Danger came to answer Drew. "Oh great, I ask for Bowser, and I get the princess." Johnny Danger responded " I am no princess.  I'm your Saturday night delight.  I'm the terror that flaps in the night.  I go where Kenny Loggins fears to tread. I am Johnny Danger."  They fought, and Drew Adler put Johnny Danger across his knee and spanked him. Matt Sells came out to the rescue of his "hetero life mate" and granted Drew his match as long as he let Johnny Danger go.  Drew kicked Matt and took the belt. He stood on the rope and held it up, and NWA Atlanta cheered at the thought of Drew being the Max Champion at War Games.

Main Event: Bill T. Butcher vs. Tyson Dean for the GA Heavyweight Championship

This was a good match overall and the crowd was clearly behind Bill.  The exchanges between Kurt Kilgore and The Black Widow were very amusing as Kurt made sure security was between them at all times.  The match felt a little short. Tyson Dean won by hitting Bill with his chain while the referee's back was turned. Then a massive beat down ensued as the men from both War Games teams came out of the back.  The entire scene stopped as the fifth member of the face team was revealed.  Andy Anderson returned to NWA Atlanta to be the fifth member of the War Games team, so both teams are now set.

Two matches are now set for April 26th's War Games Event in Stockbridge, GA, and there is one more show between now and then in Locust Grove, April 12th.
