Platinum Championship Wrestling--Porterdale, GA--2/16/13

Today is the first round of the tournament to determine the new unified PCW/Empire champion. All the matches from today's show were first round qualifying matches, and the second and final rounds will be held at the next show on March 2nd.

Match 1: The Revelation Shane Marx vs. The Heatseeker Johnny Danger

Marx starts out by kicking Johnny Danger. He tries to choke him in the corner. Johnny Danger hits Shane Marx in the midsection as he tries to get up. Shane Marx continues trying to choke Johnny Danger, then kicks him in the head. Johnny Danger gains some momentum to gain a near fall. He later slams Marx and does a gorgeous bridge pin to gain another near fall. Marx wins the match with Natural Selection and pins Danger. This was a good opening contest, and Marx is as despised as ever in our great city.

Match 2: Pump Yo Brakes vs. Mason

Mason has PYB in a headlock and he gives him a noogie. Mason slams him. Near the beginning of this match, the bottom rope of the ring broke. PYB won this match, but it's because Shane Marx came out of the audience and hit Mason while the ref's back was turned. Quasi celebrates PYB's win by saying "The Priority Males always deliver." He follows this up with a Ric Flair "Woo".

Match 3: Hit for Hire Bobby Moore vs. Bonafide Fred Yehi.

Bobby Moore wrestles up at Anarchy, and when he wrestles up there the audiences yell "Barney" at him because of his purple wrestling attire. We managed to get a pretty good Barney chant going here at PCW. Bobby Moore delivers giant clotheslines to Fred Yehi. Fred Yehi manages to get him into a headlock. Yehi delivers several chops to Bobby's chest, and does a gorgeous kick to his back. Bobby Moore puts Yehi into an armbar which Fred escapes from. Yehi kicks his way out of the corner to no avail, and the pair exchange blows. Fred Yehi comes at Moore with big clotheslines, and he does a big aerial move which gets him only a 2 count. Bobby Moore kicks Fred from corner, manages to pin him, and gets a 2 count. He tries for an armbreaker, but Fred rolls him up for a nearfall. Fred gets him into the koji but there is a rope break. Bobby Moore manages to pin Fred again for another 2 count, however the match is finally won by Yehi who manages to get Bobby Moore to tap to the Koji clutch.

Match 4: Trey Williams vs. Jon Williams

This match started out very slowly as the two brothers really didn't want to fight each other. In the second half of the match they really meant business. There were a lot of good moves in the second half of this match. Jon finally won the match by reversing a roll-up that Trey originated. The audience chanted "hug it out", and at first Jon pushed Trey away. At the end, however, they did hug to much audience adulation.

Match 5: William Huckaby vs. Chip Day

Huckaby hits Chip pretty hard at the beginning and knocks him loopy. Chip manages to kick Huckaby from a bridge position. Huckaby lands several blows to the back of Chip's head. Chip kicks Huckaby in the back of the neck. He lands 3 kicks to Huckaby's chest. He manages to kick Huckaby while he's out of the ring and knock him down. Huckaby comes back and slams Chip for a 2 count. Chip gets a 2 count, then he lands 3 kicks to Huckaby's chest. Everyone believes Chip is down and out but out of nowhere he gets a surprise pin.

Match 6: Jagged Edge vs. Sylar Cross.

Jagged Edge sees me writing and tells me to write "The Jagged Edge came out of the locker room. The Jagged Edge is in the building." The minute Sylar Cross comes out Jagged Edge attacks him. The action spills all over the arena, but never makes it into the ring. The referee called the match no contest, and the craziness continued. The entire PCW locker room came out to break the two of them apart.

Match 7: Marko Polo vs. De La Vega

When Marko Polo comes out the priority males minion girl rubs lotion on him and smacks his butt. Supernatural comes out with De La Vega and they introduce their newest family member, El Zombie Mascaras. Marko Polo throws De La Vega across the ring like a doll. De La Vega does a beautiful missile dropkick to Marko Polo. Marko Polo does a good elbow to De La Vega. He also does a leg drop he calls "the people's" leg drop, which is delivered much like The Rock's "people's elbow".  De La Vega kicks out at 2. Marko Polo does a standing supplex to De La Vega then out of nowhere De La Vega drops him on his back and manages to get a 2 count. The referee is distracted because he is too busy flirting with minion girl, and Zombie Mascaras is chasing Quasi around the ring. Marko wins, but he cheats to do so while the referee was distracted.

Main Event: Platinum Royal.

Participants: Dynomite Soul, Supernatural, Matt Von Reaper, Raymond King, Relentless (missed his first name) Colphin, Jason Blackwell, Geter, Brian Blaze, Warhorse Maintenance, Warhorse 2, Warhorse 138, Mr. Eric, Zombie Mascaras.

As usual, the match was a free for all. I have no idea who got eliminated in what order. I do know that Brian Blaze was the last man in the ring, and that Supernatural eliminated the most other competitors, so the two of them had a match. Supernatural hurt his knee early in the match, and Brian Blaze attempted to wrench the knee to gain momentum during the entirety of the contest. Supernatural manages to best Brian Blaze despite the injury, and he is now moving onto round 2 of the tournament.

Round 2 will include Shane Marx, Pump Yo Brakes, Fred Yehi, Jon Williams, Chip Day, Marko Polo, and Supernatural. Because of the no contest declared in the Sylar Cross vs. Jagged Edge, I'm not sure what they plan to do with the eighth spot. I'm sure we'll find out on March 2nd when PCW returns to Porterdale.

PCW Porterdale 2/2/13

Match 1: Corey Hollis vs. Fred Yehi.

This show started out with one of my favorite combinations in the ring. I love to watch these two because they put on one of the best technical matches. They start out with a lot of grappling. I swear at one point Fred has Corey's knee twisted like a pretzel. Corey tries to pin Fred but he keeps doing a bridge to keep his shoulders from touching the mat. Corey spits at Fred but Fred punches him. Fred Yehi does a missile dropkick to the back of Corey's neck. Hollis knees Yehi in the throat. Corey does a standing dropkick to Fred but only manages to pin him for a one count. Hollis puts a knee to Yehi's face. Yehi rolls hollis up, but doesn't manage to get the pin. When Hollis gets up, Yehi puts him back down with clotheslines. He follows this up with a supplex for a near fall. Fred slams Corey but Corey kicks out at 2. Corey does a powerbomb to Fred then goes for a "Styles Clash" ,but Fred gets up doing a headstand in one of the coolest reversals I've ever seen. He then gets Corey Hollis into the Koji Clutch and Corey taps. Fred Yehi wins the match. Hollis and Yehi shake hands after the match. For everyone who is a fan of Hollis, he made an appearance on the January 19th episode of Ring of Honor Television as part of the Tag Team Alabama Attitude with long time partner Mike Posey. If you can find that match online, you should watch it. I'm hoping that he continues appearing on Ring of Honor because I think he has what they need.

Match 2: Matt Von Reaper vs. The Jagged Edge.

My first thought upon seeing Jagged Edge come out to face Von Reaper was "It is likely that our Reaper will meet the Grim Reaper tonight." Jagged Edge starts out with a big belly to belly supplex. He does a giant clothesline, a giant elbow, and then a running knee. This match was over quickly. Jagged Edge ran over Von Reaper like a dump truck. He then established his dominance by doing two big powerbombs to his fallen opponent. The good guys came out to try and help, but the damage had been done. Hopefully, they are setting up for a feud between Jagged Edge and Sylar Cross because watching those two big guys fight would be great.

Match 3: Fred Avery vs. Kody Jack.

Fred Avery comes out and says "This is professional wrestling. This is a sport." Fred Avery does a hip toss to Kody Jack then says "This boy needs a real coach." He then bodyslams Kody and puts him into a headlock. He stomps all of Kody's joints while he has him down. Kody only picks up momentum for a little bit punching Avery. Avery picks up the win, and he blows his stupid whistle to signal his victory. Should Kody Jack turn to Fred Avery for pointers? Or should he continue training with his father and show him that family pride will win over arrogance? Only time will tell.

Match 4: Warhorse Steelhorse vs. Supernatural

Warhorse Steelhorse is coming out to audtion for an open spot in the Priority Males. His opponent Supernatural comes out swinging. He trips him, then doublestomps him twice. Supernatural runs away with Quasi Mandisco's phone so Warhorse Steelhorse can't call the cops on him for "stiffing him". This entire match is an independent wrestling "inside joke" about a recent incident where a wrestler called the cops on another wrestler for hitting him in the face inside the ring. (Look up Steelhorse Vachon, if you're unfamiliar). After the match the Priority Males come out and they tell Steelhorse he can't join the group because he didn't deliver. Quasi tells the audience that they are looking at "the greatest group of men assembled to grace the squared circle." Pump Yo Brakes says "You are looking at a wrestling dynasty. The Priority Males always deliver. We're going to show you what real men can do."

Match 5: Priority Males vs. Johnny Danger, Supernatural and De La Vega.

This was one of those tag matches that was fast paced and had a lot of tagging in and out. Both teams got in a lot of good moves, and finally the match ended in a double disqualification because it turned into an all out brawl. I'm pretty sure enough rivalries are present here that we'll see this match up again in the future.

Match 6: 4 Team Elimination Tag Match
Teams: Sylar Cross and Chip Day, The Washington Bullets, Geter and Brian Blaze, Eric Walker and Najasism.

Chip Day elminated Walker and Najasism. Geter elminated Chip and Sylar. Jon pins Geter, so the Bullets win. This was the first match for the 2013 Tag Team Series.

Match 7: Terry "Jailhouse Rocker" Lawler and Steve Lawler vs. Worst Case Scenario.

Terry Lawler comes out in a gold sequined jacket, and he looks like Elvis. This is great. I love gimmicks like this.  They come out to announce Steve Lawler's retirement and tell us that this is the last time they will tag team wrestle in Porterdale. They advertise the Ted Allen Memorial and continue talking about their 30 year career in wrestling. They are interrupted by Worst Case Scenario, their opponents for the evening. Worst Case Scenario is a great team in the ring, and it is a shame they are evil. The Lawlers win the match, and Terry Lawler celebrates by doing his Elvis dance.

Our main event: Shane Marx and Miss Rachel vs. Mason and Stephen Platinum.

Jeff G. Bailey accompanies our villains to the ring. He's trying to make sure the bad guys forfeit the match because it looks like Stephen Platinum hasn't made it to the arena. Supernatural steps up to be Mason's partner, but remember the contract states that a wrestler can't be Mason's partner. He picks Penny Graham from the audience, but the contract states that he can't have an audience member. The contract states it must be Stephen Platinum. Bailey tells us that he plans to rename the town Marxdale.  We wait for the trademark Highway to Hell to start, but instead we get happy 80's pop, the song "Heaven is a Place on Earth." Then out of nowhere, donning angel wings and a halo, our hero here to save us all, Stephen Platinum. He runs around with a feather in his mouth greeting his fans. He tells us the story of a girl in high school named Heather Craven who broke his heart, and he says he couldn't hit Heather in the face, but he can hit Rachel. The fight outside the ring is set to music and it's Whitesnake Here I go Again. It is staged like a bad 80's montage. My favorite part of the match is where Stephen Platinum and Shane Marx are running ropes at each other, and Stephen Platinum slides out of the ring and sits next to us. Marx is still running and makes himself dizzy. The match ends with Mason getting Miss Rachel to tap to his submission hold. The crowd chants Na na na na na na hey hey hey goodbye to them. Stephen Platinum says they can rejoin to compete in the tournament to crown a new champion. This event is schedule to take place February 16th at a special start time of 4pm.
