NWA Atlanta--January 25,2014--Locust Grove,GA

The auction company was packed and the crowd was hot despite the chilly temperatures outside.  Though there were only 4 matches, each did its best to give the crowd a good show.  

Rey Guapo was supposed to take part in the initial contest, but The BFF's came out and beat him down before his opponent was even named.  Adorable Anthony Edwards said "I just don't think people take us seriously.  We're the only tag team here, so it looks like we've got the night off".  

Fry Daddy and Marko came out to fight the BFF's. Fry Daddy asked "Why don't ya'll put the titles on the line if you're big and bad and serious?"  The match ended up being a non-title match. The whole place cheered for Marko and Fry Daddy, and Fry Daddy did his best to pump up the crowd while he was on the apron.  Michael Stevens hit Fry Daddy with the belt while the referee's back was turned and they won the match.  The crowd went ballistic with disdain for the BFF's because of their dirty win.  

After the first match there was a long intermission to clear up some technical issues they were having with the lighting. During this time, one of the lights at the entrance fell over, but they were able to fix it and things went on.  A little bit of the momentum created in the opening contest was lost, but it was quickly recovered during the second match.  

Zac Edwards took on newcomer Colt Callaway, and Zac was booed so hard by the audience I could barely hear him talk.  Colt Callaway did a lot of high flying moves, and I hope to see more from him.  Zac Edwards thwarted his sunset flip attempt and pinned him. He had his hand on rope, but the referee didn't see it.  

Drew Adler wrestled GA Max Champion Matt "Sex" Sells in a non-title contest.  Matt Sells does everything he can to make the audience hate him including strategically spitting his gum into the audience.  It's always a treat to watch him.  Drew Adler won the match pinning Sells after a huge kick.  

The main event pitted challenger J-Rod against GA Heavyweight champion "The Dream" Tyson Dean.  Tyson Dean exited the ring several times during the match, each time coming dangerously closer to being counted out.  J-Rod finally decided to follow him outside the ring.  Kurt Kilgore, Dean's manager, attempted to interfere, but he wasn't able because the referee almost saw his deeds.  Tyson attempted a sleeper, but J-Rod was able to escape.  J-Rod kicked Dean in the butt, but Dean regained control.  J-Rod almost had Dean put away, but Kurt Kilgore pulled the referee out of the ring.  J-Rod fought with Kilgore for a minute. The referee was knocked out during the scuffle, and The BFF's came out and introduced a chair.  Tyson Dean slammed J-Rod onto the chair.  He retained his title because Kilgore woke up the referee as Dean had J-Rod pinned.  Tyson Dean continued beating J-Rod with the assistance of The BFF's, and Fry Daddy and Marko came out to make the save.  The crowd was so angry with Tyson Dean's antics that some were throwing trash at the ring.  

NWA Atlanta impressed me this weekend. The crowd was hot for every match.  It helped that they'd taken a couple of weeks to build their main event rivalry with the promos that Tyson and J-Rod cut on each other at the previous show.  It helped that each match told an individual story.  It would be wonderful if they kept the momentum from this show, and they were able to bring it to the next one on February 15. 

Pro Wrestling Resurrection 2nd Annual Jason Speed Memorial--January 19th,2014--Gainesville,GA

There were approximately half of the spectators in the National Guard Armory than attended last year's inaugural Jason Speed Memorial. I believe it topped out at 45 this year.  The crowd wasn't very lively either. It took a while for them to wake up.

The show began with All Sells Final hosted by Matt Sells and the rest of the Rock and Roll Models.  Matt Sells told the audience that Jason Speed was the only promoter that would let him have his own talk show, therefore it was an appropriate opening in his honor.  Sells was quickly interrupted by God's Gift to Wrestling.

William Huckaby told Johnny Danger "Shut up before I cut off all your hair." He continued, "We came out here because of All Sells Final.  We're tired of this company taking a dump on us.  This company sucks, you suck, and we've made it our mission to get rid of you. I don't care how many times you've been on TV.  I've been on TV. We found ourselves a real tag team partner, the maharajah of  mayhem, the sultan of slam, CJ North."

Opening Match: God's Gift to Wrestling and CJ North vs. The Rock and Roll Models.
Winners: The Rock and Roll Models.
Sells and North started the match.  God's Gift to Wrestling did a good job heeling it up with the crowd while their partner was in the ring.  Huckaby tried his best to incite Matt Sells when Kevin Ballenger could have gotten a pin, and it worked because the referee was too distracted dealing with Sells.  Shawn Adams nearly got a pin on Ballenger. William Huckaby was too busy messing with Aja Perera who was outside the ring, and he received a Dangerkick.  Johnny Danger got the victory for the Rock and Roll Models.

6 Man Tag Team Tournament

PWR founder Jason Speed was a fan of 6 man tag matches, so the main program of the show was a 6 man tag team tournament. 8 teams competed in an elimination tournament to declare a winner.

Quarterfinal Match 1: Team Reckoning (Rick Michaels, Jacob Ashworth, and Nigel Sherrod) vs. Team TNT (El Zombie Mascaras, Scott Mason, and Mystic Storm)

The Reckoning cheered their team on, and even that didn't wake up the crowd.  The match wasn't memorable to me. The Reckoning won, and they advanced to the next round.  Mystic Storm made a speech. "We love to be here to entertain you.  We're here for Jason Speed and his dream.  Without Jason Speed, there'd be no Mystic Storm."

Quarterfinal Match 2: Team Red Carpet Society  vs. Team Sugar Junkies (Stryknyn, Dany Only, and Sugar Dunkerton)

C.B. Suave boxed Sugar Dunkerton's ears.  Dunkerton begged for a towel because Suave had too much oil on his chest. He ran out of the ring into the National Guard Armory's kitchen and grabbed some napkins. He rubbed Suave's chest with napkins.  Stryknyn manhandled Flyin' Ryan.  Stryknyn did a standing suplex, attempted to pin Ryan, but Ryan kicked out.  Dany Only tagged in, and he attempted to pin Ryan.  All 3 Sugar Junkies entered the ring and yelled "Boot Party", and they all began kicking Ryan.  Sugar stayed in with Ryan.  Ryan's partners came up behind Sugar and slammed him so Ryan could gain advantage. C.B. Suave slammed Sugar then elbowed him.  Dany Only was tagged back in, and he wore a Cenation headband. He did a 5 knuckle shuffle on Ryan. The Sugar Junkies won by pinning Ryan.  This match was really funny.  Sugar Dunkerton said that he did a 27 hour round trip that week, but before he went home he needed to be at PWR for Jason Speed.  "Before Sugar Dunkerton, there was Jamar Wilson.  No one would give him a job, but Jason Speed believed in him."

Quarterfinal Match 3: Team Fraternity (Geter, Brian Blaze, Marko) vs. Team PWR (Zach Daniels, Kevin Blue, and James Dylan)

This was a pretty good match overall. I feel like Kevin Blue is one of the most improved of PWR's roster.  His time up at Anarchy is serving him well.  Team PWR won the match.

Quarterfinal Match 4: Team Bullets (Washington Bullets and Joe Black) vs. Team Rock and Roll (Matt Sells, Johnny Danger, and Kevin Ballenger)

Trey Williams of the Washington Bullets tried to introduce a wrench into the match early on, but he dropped it. Matt Sells picked it up, and the Bullets tried to make it look like Matt was trying to cheat.  The Bullets went off on a tirade about sportsmanship and fair play.  This match took a long time to start because of all the comedy and smack talk that transpired between the two teams.

All 3 Rock and Roll Models did Matt Sells' trademark move where the wrestler puts his opponent's head between his legs, does pelvic twirls, plays drums on his head, then turns him over and repeatedly bangs his face into the mat.  Joe Black attacked Matt outside while the referee's back was turned.  Team Bullets continuously cheated throughout the whole match.  Matt Sells got the pin in a convoluted ending where I'm not certain exactly who the legal man was.  The tags in and out got very messy towards the end of the match.

Semifinal Match 1: Team Reckoning vs. Team PWR.

This match was a little more serious than most of the first round matches. A few of the first round matches felt like I was watching a comedy show.  The action spilled outside the ring and the referee focused on breaking up Blue and Sherrod outside.  Meanwhile, inside the ring Rick Michaels hit Zach Daniels in the head with a silver tray.  Then he pinned Zach and won the round for The Reckoning.

Semifinal Match 2: Team Sugar Junkies vs. Team Rock and Roll

The match began with all parties shaking hands. They began singing Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard and dancing in the ring, and Johnny Danger hurt his knee. It was a legitimate injury. They pulled him to the back, and Dany Only found a replacement partner in Kevin Blue.

They rebooted all the entrances like the first five minutes or so never happened. It was an attempt at comedy that really fell flat for me.  Matt and Sugar grappled for a while.  All six men were in the ring and formed a tableau of writhing bodies that resembled a Medieval artist's representation of Hell. Then they descended into Matrix Slo-Mo. It got a little too silly, and maybe it was supposed to serve as a distraction to the audience because of Danger's injury.  Dany Only won the match for The Sugar Junkies.

Women's Tag Match: Nina Monet and Grundy vs. Aja Pereira and Brandy Scotch Baker

Grundy is billed from the place men fear most, and I found that amusing. Grundy manhandled Aja for a while. Nina got in for a while still isolating Aja.  Grundy pinned Aja, and Brandy Scotch Baker turned on Aja and left her splayed in the ring after her defeat.

Main Event: Team Reckoning vs. The Sugar Junkies

The final match was the best of the evening, and honestly that was mostly due to the fact that Stryknyn and Dany Only were wearing Sugar Dunkerton's gear and Sugar was wearing Dany Only's jacket and shorts. Team Reckoning won the match, and at the end all teams came together with this final message from Rick Michaels "We can forget about who hates who and who's against who. Today was for Jason Speed. May you rest in peace."

Platinum Championship Wrestling--January 18, 2014--Porterdale, GA

Evil was alive and well in Porterdale, GA in front of this capacity crowd. Platinum Championship Wrestling's commitment to its long term story line is what makes it stand out above some of its competition.

Quasi Mandisco began the show. "Where's Johnny Danger? Where's Supernatural? The members of MAIM are here to give you a warning. We're going to do what we do best.  We're going to hurt people.  That's what we do.  This is just a warning to anyone who defies MAIM." He held up Supernatural's mask at that point gaining the ire of the entire audience.  "Is there anyone bad enough to take on Deandre Jackson?  Is there anyone bad enough to take on Kaiden Knight?  Sugar Shane?  We are the best in Georgia. We are the best in the United States.  We are the best in the world.  We are the members of MAIM."

Match 1: Brandon Kage vs. Dynomite Soul

Brandon Kage has really slimmed down. He attempted a headscissors submission, but Dynomite broke it quickly.  Brandon's mat game really improved, and he looked better both physically and as a wrestler than the last time he graced a PCW ring.

This great match was broken up by Sylar Cross and Bobby Moore, and it turned into a tag team match.

Match 2: Brandon Kage and Dynomite Soul vs. Bobby Moore and Sylar Cross.
Winners: Bobby Moore and Sylar Cross

The heels began by decimating Dynomite Soul, and he was isolated for a long time. He finally managed to tag in cage who received a boot to the face from Bobby Moore.  Rachel choked Brandon Kage while Sylar argued with the referee.  Moore attempted to pin Kage unsuccessfully. Moore yelled at the audience "Where's the challenge?" referring to Kage.  Dynomite tried hard to get in to save his partner, but the referee kept telling him to wait for a tag.  The referee was oblivous to the fact that the heels were attacking Kage. Bobby Moore knocked Dynomite Soul off the ring apron.  Brandon Kage received a big splash in the corner from Sylar Cross. Sylar then put Brandon Kage in his version of the lion tamer, but broke it after making his painful statement.  Kage regained control of the match then tagged in Dynomite Soul.  He kneed Bobby Moore. When it looked like Dynomite Soul would win the match, Rachel elbowed him in the corner while the referee was distracted.  Bobby Moore rolled Dynomite Soul up and got the pin.  The entire exchange was a dynamic way to begin the show.

Match 3: Brian Blaze and Geter vs. Joey Kidman and Don Yoder

Yoder came to the ring in an unflattering red bathrobe.  Geter flattened Yoder, and then he flattened Kidman and Yoder as they attempted to discuss strategy. Geter pinned Yoder in this very short squash match.

Match 4: De La Vega vs. Adrian Armour
Winner: Adrian Armour

De La Vega wasted no time getting in Adrian Armour's face.  Armour really worked De La Vega's arm, and De La Vega answered by trying to break Armour's.  Armour called De La Vega a "Grown Ass Midget" which really pleased the audience.  Armour tried to pull De La Vega back into the ring by his hair. De La Vega stomped Armour's back.  Vega unsuccessfully attempted a pin on Armour. The action spilled outside the ring for a little bit, and Vega nearly pinned Armour once the action returned inside.  Vega wrapped Armour up, but Armour got up and backed Vega into the corner. Vega pinned Armour again, but only managed the two count.  Vega stomped Armour from the second rope, but still couldn't pin him.  Armour chopped De La Vega. De La Vega clotheslined Armour's head.  Vega landed several shots to Armour's midsection.  He followed this with a big elbow, but he still only managed a 2 count.  Armour slammed Vega to the canvas, and both men were down.  Armour backhanded Vega then kneed him in the gut.  He followed that up with a backbreaker and a Russian leg sweep drop.  He then did a spinning slam to Vega, but Vega kicked out.  De la Vega missed a leg drop, but he was able to roll Armour up.  The referee claimed that Vega grabbed Armour's tights, and Vega argued fiercely about it. Armour took advantage of this and rolled Vega up for the win.

Match 5: Chip Day vs. Casey Kincaid
Winner: Chip Day

This championship match took place inside a steel cage, and it didn't disappoint.  Kincaid repeatedly threw Day face first into the cage to start things off.  Day whipped Kincaid into the corner.  Day snapmared Kincaid then stomped his face.  He tied Kincaid up in the ropes and repeatedly bashed his face into the cage.  He then bashed Kincaid into the turnbuckle, and attempted to pin him.  Day then hit Kincaid in the face.  Kincaid did a pretty dropkick off the top rope, but Day still kicked out at 2.  Kincaid unsuccessfully attempted another pin. He followed this up with an elbow drop from the top rope, but Day powered out of that pin attempt.  Kincaid and Day exchanged punches and kicks.  Day landed a beautiful kick to Kincaid's face. He took Kincaid up top for a superplex, which it appeared that Kincaid managed to reverse. He followed that up with a suplex of his own, but Day still managed to kick out.  Jeff G. Bailey tried to introduce a chair into the match, but Adrian Armour came out and took the chair from Bailey and chased him off threatening to hit him with it. Kincaid hit Day with a DDT, but Day managed to kick out.  Kincaid yelled at Armour outside the ring "Why are you here?" Armour flipped Kincaid off and he helped Day tie Kincaid up with zip strips.  It turned out that Armour was really working for Of Mice and Men and the sinister Jeff G. Bailey the entire time.  Day continued to assault Kincaid as he was tied to the cage.  Chip then attempts to walk out. Kincaid yells at him to do the right thing and beat him fair and square by pinning him, but he said that Day "doesn't have the sack for that." Chip walked out the cage door retaining his title. It seems that all PCW's heroes have been seduced by the darkness of either The Empire or MAIM.

Shane Mackey had a message from Stephen Platinum. On February 15, Stephen Platinum is scheduled to return to Porterdale, GA. He wanted his last match to be against Chip Day, and if he had any steam left in him he wanted a piece of Jeff G. Bailey. Jeff G. Bailey told the audience that Chip Day should be our hero, and that Stephen Platinum couldn't waltz back into the town that Chip Day built.  Stephen Platinum's "open challenge" would instead be answered by Shane Marx. According to Jeff G. Bailey, Stephen Platinum isn't in Chip Day's league, and he never will be.

Match 6: MAIM (Kaiden Knight, Sugar Shane, and Deandre Jackson) vs. The Washington Bullets and Marko Polo

Marko Polo entered the arena wearing a Punisher hoodie to antagonize Kaiden Knight whose nickname is The Punisher.  All three faces threw all three MAIM members into each other as the match began.  All six men were in the ring at once, and it became chaotic.  They tagged in and out quickly and furiously.  Marko Polo was in with Deandre Jackson, and the referee seemed distracted by keeping the Bullets out of the ring. Deandre Jackson made an illegal tag to Sugar Shane.  Marko Polo threw Sugar Shane over the ropes into the cage.  Deandre Jackson came back into the match and tried to pin Marko Polo.  MAIM continued to assault Polo in their corner as the referee is occupied keeping the Bullets out of the ring.  Kaiden Knight attempted to pin Polo, failed, then tried to choke him.  Kaiden Knight held Marko Polo while Sugar Shane struck him down. They had him isolated for what seemed like forever.  Deandre Jackson did an elbow then attempted to pin him.  The Bullets finally made it into the ring, and they tried to clean house.  Kaiden Knight pulled them down by their shorts.  The Bullets double teamed him with a tandem kick, and Marko Polo unsuccessfully attempted to pin him.  All three faces climbed to the top rope, but Quasi shook the cage from the outside and knocked them all down.  Quasi attempted to climb up the cage, but a mysterious man in a mask and cape knocked Quasi down.  He seemed rather dangerous.  Marko pinned Kaiden Knight and he and the Washington Bullets were victorious.  Marko earned a title shot against Chip Day on February 1st.

PCW will be back in Porterdale, GA on Saturday, February 1st at 6pm.

NWA Atlanta--January 11, 2014--Locust Grove, GA

It was a typical Saturday night in GA. There's no escaping the song Sweet Home Alabama on a Saturday night here.  The auction company was packed, and it appeared that the end of football season had a lot to do with wrestling fans returning.  NWA Atlanta has a lot of good talent, and they manage to put together shows that are entertaining. Their flaw is they don't appear to have a long term game plan.  When NWA Atlanta puts out promotional posters for each show, they advertise the superstars that will be there, but there is no sense of what matches will happen that night.  Often the main event itself is a surprise, and January 11th's show was no exception. 

Match 1: Zac Edwards vs. J-Rod
Winner: J-Rod

The participants talked a lot of smack at the beginning.  Zac Edwards evaded J-Rod at the beginning choosing to play coward.  Zac acted like J-Rod was pulling his beard though he wasn't.  J-Rod knocked Zac out of the ring with a butt bump, and when Zac tried to do the same to J-Rod, J-Rod managed to evade and Zac fell out of the ring.  J-Rod did a vicious knee to Zac and followed up with an elbow.  Zac got out of the way of J-Rod's move and J-Rod hit the ringpost.  Zack stomped J-Rod.  Zac picked up J-Rod and slammed him, and he followed that with "the beautiful drop".  Zac got J-Rod down into a sleeper hold, but J-Rod broke it.  Zac kicked J-Rod in the corner, followed that with an elbow, and unsuccessfully attempted a pin. Zac kicked J-Rod in the stomach, and J-Rod answered those kicks with clotheslines.  J-Rod rolled Zac up while he was busy posturing to the crowd.  It appeared that one shoulder was up during the pin, but the referee didn't see it. 

Match 2: Drew Adler and Ross vs. The BFF's.

Drew Adler and Ross challenged The BFF's for the NWA Atlanta Tag Team Championships.  Drew Adler woke up the crowd, and he and his partner really worked well together.  Ross was isolated by The BFF's for a long time, and the referee kept Drew from getting in the ring to save his partner.  Drew got the "hot" tag and cleaned house.  He made the match into a high energy contest. He made a pin attempt, but instead of going for the three count, he decided to do a 450 splash out of the ring onto the BFF's. Drew made several pin attempts after this, but he is still unsuccessful.  Ross got back in and the BFF's cheated to win as they typically do.  Drew's spots excited the crowd. He is a really talented wrestler, and I believe he has a bright future.  The BFF's said that it was time to prove a point, and they beat up Drew and Ross after the match.  Bill T. Butcher and Pain came out to make the save, but they were less interested in helping Drew and Ross than they were in showing the BFF's it was their turn to challenge for the belts.  The BFF's turned tail and ran leaving the belts in the ring. The Black Widow picked them up and held them up in front of her men. She showed more personality than she had in several weeks with that one gesture. 

Match 3: Matt Sells and Johnny Danger vs. Fry Daddy and Marko Polo
 Winners: Fry Daddy and Marko Polo
Matt Sells and his "hetero life partner" Johnny Danger came to the ring and wished the NWA Atlanta crowd a happy new year. They introduced themselves as the "Rock and Roll Models". Matt says that the NWA board of directors is happy with him representing the company as the new MAX champion, and that they've graciously given him the night off.  He followed this by giving the audience a "five second pose" reminiscent of those from Edge and Christian's early days.

Fry Daddy interrupted Matt's five second pose. "You and your life partner, Johnalina Danger don't have the night off because you don't deserve it. I've tried to find a tag team partner." Johnny Danger responded "You don't have any friends."  "Shut your mouth, and know your place, Johnalina" Fry Daddy answered, "I know a real international superstar. You're the oldies version, the bootleg version." Marko Polo joined Fry Daddy to take on the Rock and Roll Models.  Matt and Johnny pitched a little diva fit at the idea of having to wrestle when they believed they had the night off. All four men began the match in the ring. Fry Daddy and Marko dropkicked both of the Rock and Roll Models in tandem.  They also did another tandem move later in the match as they elbowed Matt and Johnny.  Both teams did a great job, and they're both adept at working together.  Fry Daddy ended up pinning Johnny Danger for the win. 

Match 4: The Russian Assassin vs. Tyson Dean
Winner: Tyson Dean

Tyson Dean slammed The Russian Assassin, and he attempted to pin him.  He attempted a second pin on a roll-up.  The action spilled outside the ring. Dean threw The Russian Assassin into the Barricade, then he tried to break his arm.  Once they reentered the ring, The Russian Assassin tapped to a really pretty bridged submission.  Kurt Kilgore threw the announcer out of the ring after the match.

Kurt Kilgore told the audience they needed to hold onto their tickets because they'd be collector's items since this was the first night of Tyson Dean's undefeated streak.  Tyson Dean took the microphone, asked Kurt Kilgore to remove his shirt,  and he cut a promo that rang true in the professional wrestling industry even though he's a heel champion and he did it to provoke the audience's anger. "Heavyweight champions should be more physically fit than my manager.  You should have abs, pecs, and shoulders. Fat dudes in spandex who look you've never seen a gym, pray to God that your spandex holds up.  In New York, we look like athletes. Thank God someone came from New York to represent your state."

J-Rod interrupted Tyson's tirade with a monologue of his own.  "Why is it you have all that bass in your voice until you asked this pasty boy to take his shirt off.  I was born in GA. You and your pasty boy can play poker with your stick while I keep the title here. I didn't come here with the intention of losing. Keep your shirt on until ya'll go home together."

Tyson answered "What does a contender look like?" and he pointed at J-Rod adding "He should look like that. You are nothing but a speed bump, and you won't slow this train down. January 25th the train will stop here."

J-Rod responded "As far as that train goes, you're nothing but the caboose for that guy right there."

J-Rod will challenge Tyson Dean for the GA Heavyweight Championship at the next show on January 25th.

Main Event: Blackjack and The Enforcer vs. Bill T. Butcher and Pain

The match itself was good, but it was an odd choice for the main event. Blackjack and The Enforcer weren't familiar to the NWA Atlanta audience, and though both teams were heels, the audience cheered for Bill T. Butcher and Pain because of familiarity.  Bill T. Butcher started the match, and he wasted no time manhandling his opponents.  Pain made the pin and won the match for his team.  Pain did his trademark Bam Bam Bigelow style moonsault as he and Bill T. Butcher beat up their opponents after the match. The audience got into the match, and I might be wrong, but I could see an upcoming face turn for Pain and Bill T. Butcher based on the audience reaction to the match.  This seemed weird because their actions in the Saturday Night Rumble at the previous show seemed to hint at a break up for their team. Only time will tell.

NWA Atlanta's next event is on January 25. 

Platinum Championship Wrestling--January 4, 2014--Porterdale,GA

PCW's first show of the year was awesome.  The crowds are back since football season is over.  It was a treat to see A.R. Fox and the Dragon Shynron who've both made names in larger independent companies all over the country.  

Match 1: "Hit for Hire" Bobby Moore and De La Vega vs. Adrian Armour and Shynron
Winners: "Hit for Hire" Bobby Moore and De La Vega

Adrian Armour and De La Vega started with a test of strength, but Vega quickly tagged in Bobby Moore.  Moore tried to break Armour's arm, but Armour managed a rope break.  Moore kicked Armour in the gut. Armour caught Moore in a headlock.  Shynron dropkicked Moore from the top rope as Armour held him in place.  Vega tagged in, and Shynron dodged Vega's clotheslines. Shynron did a handspring which led into a neckbreaker.  He followed up with a standing moonsault.  Bobby Moore gained control at the point where Shynron nearly knocked Rachel off the apron.  Moore and Vega isolated Shynron for a while.  Moore knocked Armour off the apron to keep Shynron from making a tag.  Moore missed a move and Armour tagged in. Vega also tagged in.  Armour tried to pin Vega, but Vega kicked out.  Vega did a headscissors to Armour, but he was unsuccessful in his pin attempt.  Armour punched Vega in the face several times, and he attempted to pin Vega.  Moore tagged in, and he did an elbow from the second rope, but he couldn't pin Armour.  Vega dropped Armour and landed a huge elbow to Armour's chest, but he still couldn't manage the pin.  Shynron did a hurricanrana to Moore. Moore and Vega were outside the ring and Shynron did a massive dive into both of them.  Moore got Armour back into the ring. Moore missed a swing at Armour, and Armour took advantage with a massive suplex.  It did no good. Moore managed to pin Armour for the win. 

Match 2: AR Fox vs. Casey Kincaid
Winner: Casey Kincaid 

Kincaid started by working Fox's arm.  Fox did an armdrag, and Kincaid followed this up with a knee to Fox's neck.  Kincaid hit Fox hard with a right hand to the jaw.  Kincaid unsuccessfully attempted a pin.  Fox landed several shots to Kincaid's midsection and followed with a kick to Kincaid's head.  Fox dived out of the ring onto Kincaid.  He did a handstand centon to Kincaid, but he didn't manage the pin.  Fox tried for the pin again after the slam, but was again unsuccessful.  Fox did a running clothesline to Kincaid in the corner. He followed up with a sliding dropkick to Kincaid's face.  Kincaid did a gutwrench to Fox but didn't manage the pin.  Kincaid did a neckbreaker with another unsuccessful pin attempt.  He then did a snap suplex and went up to the second rope but he missed that move.  Fox clotheslined Kincaid and landed a pretty dropkick.  Fox attempted to pin Kincaid.  Fox landed a 450 splash, but still was unable to manage the pin.  Fox kicked Kincaid in the face. Kincaid tried a sleeper hold, but Fox was able to break it. He attempted it again. Kincaid won the match by pinning Fox. Kincaid showed his sportsmanship by raising Fox's hand in a sign of respect. 

Match 3: Sugar Shane, Ricky Nugent, Brian Blaze, Jon Williams, Dynomite Soul, and Marko Polo in a 6 man anyone can tag in at anytime match.
Winner: Jon Williams

Polo and Sugar Shane started. Sugar tried to put Marko in an armbar, but Marko reversed, got Shane on the rope, and dropped him. Jon Williams tagged in and so did Ricky Nugent.  Williams took Nugent down and stomped on his arm.  He tried to pin Nugent, but Nugent got his foot on the rope.  Dynomite Soul tagged in, and he attempted to pin Nugent, but Nugent grabbed the rope.  Dynomite Soul tagged in Marko. Marko attempted a sleeper on Nugent, and every wrestler attempted a sleeper on the guy in front of him. They all ended up in a row with Dynomite Soul on the end.  Dynomite Soul did a dropkick to end the sleeper row. He tossed Nugent back into the ring and Marko slammed Nugent.  Dynomite tagged back in and Nugent took him down.  Sugar Shane tagged in, and Dynomite began chopping and punching him. Many tags were made, and Shane ended up tagging in Jon Williams who tagged in Brian Blaze rather quickly.  Brian Blaze elbowed Dynomite Soul's kneecaps.  Blaze tagged in Nugent who twisted Dynomite's knee around his leg, but Dynomite punched him off of him.  Nugent tagged Blaze back in and Blaze stomped Dynomite Soul's lower back.  Sugar Shane made it back in, and Dynomite Soul tried to pin him with a small package, but he was unsuccessful.  Jon Williams clotheslined Ricky Nugent.  Marko then did a Bray Wyatt like reverse STO to Nugent.  Jon Williams pinned Nugent for the victory. This entire match was chaotic, but it was exciting. 

Match 4: Sylar Cross vs. Logan Creed
Winner: Double Countout

Logan Creed gained momentum early in the match, but Cross would leave the ring everytime.  Cross bashed Creed's head on the aprong. Chip Day choked Creed while Cross distracted the referee.  Sylar tried unsuccessfully to pin Creed.  Creed kneed Cross's midsection. Cross regained control of the match and did a splash to Creed in the corner.  Chip Day interfered again as Cross distracted the referee.  Cross headbutted Creed. He followed this up by buttslamming Creed.  He attempted to pin Creed, but to no avail.  Cross was frustrated and choked Creed, but he broke it before the 5 count.  Creed slammed Sylar, and Chip Day interfered again by pulling Creed's leg.  Creed knocked Chip off the apron.  Cross slammed Creed after Creed missed a move off the top rope.  Creed pulled Sylar down by his ankles, and the action spilled outside the ring.  The match ended in a double countout. 

Quasi Mandisco addressed the crowd.  "I come out here to wish ya'll a happy new year.  I wish you all the birth control, all the pick up trucks, and all the acne medication you neeed for the new year.  I'd like to introduce the newest member of the most dominant group at PCW, MAIM, Fry Daddy."

Match 5: Fry Daddy vs. Trey Williams
Winner: Fry Daddy

Trey mocked Quasi by wearing his scarf, then he wiped his butt with it.  Quasi had the funniest expression on his face when he got it back. He didn't want to touch that stinky scarf.  Fry Daddy punched Trey. Trey took down Fry Daddy and attempted unsuccessfully to pin him.  Trey did a hip toss followed by an armbreaker. Trey did a couple pushups then came down hard on Fry Daddy's arm.  Trey missed a kick. Fry Daddy went outside the ring for a little breather.  Fry Daddy powered out of Trey's next pin attempt.  Fry Daddy slammed Trey, elbowed him, then unsuccessfully attempted a pin.   They exchanged blows. Trey attempted to fly off the second rope, but Fry Daddy got him in the midsection.  Fry Daddy attempted an elbow.  Trey clotheslined him then took him down with a leg drop.  Trey was distracted by Quasi and Fry Daddy slammed him.  He only managed a 2 count.  Trey got up, superkicked Fry Daddy, but Fry Daddy kicked out at 2.  Trey pushed Fry Daddy off the top rope then superkicked him.  Quasi distracted the referee so Fry Daddy could gain control of the match.  Fry Daddy slammed Trey. Trey did his superkick and was about to get the win, but Quasi rang the bell disrupting the pin.  Trey chased Quasi around the ring then superkicked him.  Quasi took the opportunity to throw an illegal object in the ring, and the referee tried to get it from Trey.  Fry Daddy won the match after a low blow. The referee only saw the small package rollup.  Fry Daddy continued to assault Trey. Marko Polo and Jon Williams came out to aid Trey. Deandre Jackson, Quasi Mandisco, and Fry Daddy against Marko Polo and the Washington Bullets has been set up for January 18th. 

Main Event: Terry Lawler vs. Chip Day for the PCW Heavyweight Championship
Winner: Chip Day

Lawler wasted no time attacking Day. He did a neckbreaker and attempted a pin early.  Day kneed Lawler. Lawler threw Chip out of the ring, and they brawled near the front entrance to the arena.  Chip tried to hit Lawler with a crowbar, but he hit the ringpost and hurt his own hand.  Lawler stood on Day's hands, and he hit him in the head.  He whipped Day into the corner, but Day got the boot up. Day attempted to pin Lawler.  Lawler really did a number on Day but Day managed to do his patented kicks.  Lawler answered that with a backdrop. He punched Day in the face then chopped him.  Day countered by trying to kick Lawler, but Lawler put him in an ankle lock.  Chip made it to the rope because Sylar pulled him.  Day kicked Lawler and he ended up pinning him for the win.  Chip and Sylar celebrated with their signature "Whoop! There it is!" dance before they continued beating up Lawler.  Bobby Moore joined the beatdown party, but Casey Kincaid, Shynron, and A.R. Fox came out to break it up.  Chip Day will defend his title on January 18th against Casey Kincaid in a steel cage. 

Bonus Match: AR Fox, Shynron,and Casey Kincaid vs. Bobby Moore, Chip Day, and Sylar Cross

There were so many beautiful spots in this match, I simply sat back and decided to take it all in.  Casey Kincaid pinned Chip Day and it was electric.  The crowd went insane.  The crowd is nuts for the idea of Casey and Chip in a steel cage at the next show.

Platinum Championship Wrestling--December 21, 2013--Porterdale, GA

Chip Day and Sylar Cross started the show by interrupting Shane Mackey and Dynomite Soul's introduction.  They dragged Dynomite to the ring and began beating him up.  They told someone with a video camera that they weren't pointing at the real show. Chip then stated that Mason had really fell off because he lost to Chip Day. Chip also said about Fred Yehi "I get that he can run 8 miles an hour. That's impressive. I'm not trying to be the best at exercising.  I'm trying to be the best wrestler in the company."

Match 1: "Hit for Hire" Bobby Moore vs. "Marvelous" Marko Polo

They locked up, and Moore backed Polo into the corner. Moore slapped Polo and Polo returned with a slap of his own.  Moore kicked Polo and Polo caught his foot.  Polo cornered Moore and chopped him. Moore punched Polo then whipped him into the corner.  Polo reversed Moore's armbar attempt into an armdrag. Moore punched Polo, but Polo countered with a crossbody and another arm drag.  Rachel pulled Polo's ankle trying to worm her way into the match, but it wasn't enough.  Moore and Polo battled on the outside, and Polo threw Moore back into the ring.  Moore kicked Polo in the corner several times, went for a running elbow, and then unsuccessfully attempted a pin.  Moore attempted to submit Polo.  Moore landed a cross body for another unsuccessful pin attempt.  Moore distracted the referee while Rachel beat Polo up outside the ring.  Moore came out of the ring to try to finish what Rachel started, and he and Polo traded blows outside.  Moore landed a back kick.  Moore landed an elbow and attempted a pin, but Polo reversed it.  Moore kicked out.  Moore tries to hit Polo in the corner, Marko dodges, and Moore ends up hitting the turnbuckle.  Marko hit his finisher and pinned Moore. Moore struggled to get his shoulder up at the last second, but no dice. Marko won the match, and this was only the beginning of a great show.

Match 2: Sugar Shane and Brian Blaze vs. Adrian Armour and "Dynomite Soul" Eric Walker.

Blaze started the match in control of Walker.  They played on the opening segment with Walker being off his game because of the attack from Cross. Walker missed an elbow. Shane tags Blaze back in and Blaze tortured Walker's knees.  Blaze and Shane managed to cut off the ring, isolating Walker.  Shane put Walker in a figure four around the ringpost.  While the referee was distracted, Blaze terrorized Walker outside the ring.  Blaze put Walker into a half crab, then put Walker's foot onto the rope, and landed on it with all his weight for maximum damage to the leg.  Walker finally managed a tag to Armour, and Armour did several big clotheslines, followed by a running knee and a powerbomb to Shane.  Walker tagged himself in. He speared Shane then punches him.  Blaze tagged himself back in, and laid waste to Dynomite winning the match.  Dynomite lay prone in the ring, and Armour had to help him out. The attack from Mice and Men messed his knee up, and he left with a noticeable limp.

Terry Lawler talked about the fourth and final Nightmare to Remember show scheduled for February 8, 2014 in Villa Rica.  He wished us all a Very Terry Christmas. 

Match 3: De La Vega vs. Mike Posey

De La Vega grabbed the mic from commentator Shane Mackey and said "What is this match? Why am I wrestling Mike Posey? I believe I am the rightful Platinum Championship Guy."  Mike Posey showed off by doing a split on the ropes.  Posey asked De La Vega to shake hands, and it looked like De La Vega would comply, but he attempted to kick Posey instead. Posey caught his foot, and took him down. Posey wrapped De La Vega up in a submission, and then slapped his butt.  Posey then kicked De La Vega in the butt.  Posey bent De La Vega into a bridge, then slammed him down.  De La Vega drop kicked Posey and attempted to pin him.  De La Vega tried a submission but Posey got up.  De La Vega did a clothesline, then attempted another pin, but this proved unsuccessful.  Vega then bombed Posey, but Posey kicked out again.  Posey kneed De La Vega in the head, but De La Vega put Posey in a face lock.  Posey stood up and kicked Vega in the head. He followed this with giant clotheslines, a spinebuster, and a slingshot dropkick.  He attempted a pin, but was unsuccessful. He followed up with a jawbreaker then a neckbreaker which led to another unsuccessful pin attempt.  Adrian Armour distracted De La Vega. Posey took advantage with a neckbreaker then sailed off the top rope to victory. 

Match 4: Shane Marx vs. "Country Jacked" Corey Hollis

Marx kneed Hollis in the midsection, and Hollis answered with chops to Shane's chest.  Marx landed an uppercut to Hollis's chin. Marx left the ring after Hollis responded to that assault.  Marx punched Hollis repeatedly then elbowed him in the face.  Hollis did a beautiful dropkick.  Hollis tossed Marx into all four turnbuckles then chopped him.  Marx received a big slam form Hollis followed by a suplex.  Rachel attempted to interfere, but Hollis grabbed her by the hair. Marx threw Hollis into the ring post for messing with Rachel. Marx gained advantage by working Hollis's arm. He put Hollis in a hammer lock, but Hollis gets out. Marx clotheslines Hollis, and unsuccessfully attempts a pin.  Marx attempted another armbreaker.  Hollis punched Marx, but Marx landed a boot to Hollis's shoulder.  Hollis chopped Marx's chest, and Marx put him in an armbar again.  Hollis punched again and again and then broke away from Marx to catch his breath. Marx was on him like a dog. Hollis clotheslined Marx and really came back. He suplexed Marx then kicked him in the knee.  Hollis then did a neckbreaker to Marx, attempted a pin, but Marx kicked out.  Marx slammed Hollis, but was unable to get a three count.  Marx landedseveral shots to Hollis's head, and kneed him in the jaw, but still was unsuccessful at pinning him.  They exchanged blows.  Hollis attempted to gain control, but Marx superkicked him in the jaw. They were both down, and Hollis rolled Marx over, but Marx managed to kick out. Hollis did an airplane spin into a slam, but still only managed a 2 count on Marx.  Hollis tried to make Marx submit, but Marx countered and attempted to pin Hollis.  Marx speared Hollis and unsuccessfully attempted another pin.  Hollis rolled Marx up and made another pin attempt.  Marx was down, and Rachel tried to interfere. Hollis did his airplane spin on Rachel, and was about to slam her when Marx superkicked him. Marx then finished with Natural Selection and won the match. Hollis called for the microphone, and said "Give this man a round of applause. These people may hate you, but Shane Marx, you've earned my respect. Shake my hand or I'll punch you square in the face." They shook hands. This match wins match of the night, but Posey and Vega were a close second.

Main Event: Of Mice and Men vs. Supernatural and Fred Yehi

Sylar Cross and Fred Yehi began the match, but Chip Day was tagged in quickly.  Yehi tried to break Day's arm.  Supernatural kicked Day.  Yehi tagged in and grabbed Day by the ear. Day tried to do the same to Yehi, but was unsuccessful.  Supernatural kneed Day's arm, then did a submission similar to the Black Widow, where he wrapped his whole body around Day. Day landed several blows to the chest of Supernatural. Cross slammed Supernatural, but he was not the legal man. Yehi stepped into help Supernatural, and it took a second for the referee to regain order.  Day dragged Supernatural over to his corner then tagged in Cross. Cross elbowed Supernatural, attempted a pin, but Yehi broke up the count.  Day put Supernatural in his version of the lion tamer.  Day then did an STO to Supernatural.  Cross and Day managed to isolate Supernatural for a long time.  Day threw Supernatural into Cross's leg, then stomped on him.  Day followed this with a snap suplex. Cross went to slam into Supernatural in the corner, but Supernatural dodged. Day and Cross hit heads.  Yehi got the hot tag, and the action spilled outside the ring.  Quasi Mandisco set Supernatural on fire, and sicked the Black Chair Brigade on him. The Black Chair Brigade dragged him out the back and beat him up.  Of Mice and Men beat up Fred Yehi in the ring. Quasi Mandisco returned with Supernatural's mask in his hand, and he put it on mockingly.  Supernatural and Fred Yehi won the match by disqualification, but the beatings continued.  Terry Lawler ran to the ring to help Fred Yehi starting a fight between Lawler and Day.  Chip Day's mom ran to the ring to separate them, and Chip hit her, and yelled "You always choose him over me" Terry Lawler and Chip Day are scheduled to face off on January 4th at PCW's next show.

This show was an absolute delight, and the best way that PCW could wrap up their year.  Here's hoping that 2014 starts with as much of a bang as PCW ended 2013. 

NWA Atlanta--December 14, 2013--Griffin, GA

The acoustics were terrible in the venue, and there were only 3 matches on the card. The second match was a 20 man Royal Rumble style match, and it was awesome. There were a lot of twists and turns, and the crowd really got into the various rivalries built within.

Match 1: Billy the Kid and Osborne vs. The BFF's

It was odd that the BFF's were getting cheers from this audience. The BFF's spent too much time outside the ring, and it took a long time for the match to get started.  The BFF's picked up the win when Marvelous Michael pinned Osborne.

Match 2: 20 man Saturday Night Rumble:

The participants were as followed: 1: Fry Daddy, 2: Stupid, 3: Frankie Valentine, 4: Simon Sermon, 5: J-Rod, 6: Zac Edwards, 7: Rick Michaels, 8: Rey Guapo, 9: Drew Adler, 10: Matt "Sex" Sells, 11: Drew Game, 12: Santa Claus, 13: King Conga, 14: Bill the Butcher, 15: Luke Gallows, 16:Marvelous Michael Stevens , 17: Adorable Anthony Andrews, 18: Southside Trash, 19: Brian Daniels, 20: Pain.

The match worked like the Royal Rumble where two participants start out in the ring and another enters every two minutes until all 20 men have entered the ring. Elimination occurred when a participant was thrown over the top rope and both feet touched the floor. Order of Elimination was as followed: 1. Stupid, 2: Frankie Valentine, 3: Rey Guapo, 4: Drew Game, 5: Santa Claus, 6: Rick Michaels, 7: Simon Sermon, 8: Matt "Sex" Sells, 9: Fry Daddy, 10: Zac Edwards, 11: Drew Adler, 12: King Conga, 13: Southside Trash, 14: Brian Daniels, 15: Marvelous Michael Stevens, 16: Adorable Anthony Andrews, 17: Luke Gallows, 18: Bill T. Butcher, 19: Pain. The winner was J-Rod. I'd expected that Pain would win, and that the rivalry between Andy Anderson and Pain would be renewed.  J-Rod now gets a shot at the GA Heavyweight title at NWA Atlanta's next show on January 11th.

Simon Sermon and his flaming nipple lights stole the match for a moment during his entrance.  Zac Edwards wore a Christmas Sweater vest that was charming and awesomely awful.  Rick Michaels attempted to get audience adoration by bringing an adorable dog to the ring. Frankie Valentine did quite a few nice spots in the match.  Drew Game just walked around the ring for a long time during his entrance and was eliminated about a second after the referee made him enter. He pitched a nice little fit and the referee had to remove him from ringside.  Matt Sells and Fry Daddy got into a brawl outside the ring because Matt elminated Fry Daddy after he'd already been eliminated himself.  They had a street fight of their own that excited the crowd. Matt's really become good at getting heat lately, and since Fry Daddy's NWA's favorite face of the moment, this is building into the best rivalry the promotion has. Pain accidentally eliminated partner, Bill T. Butcher, and that will likely add to the tension between the two of them. Their valet, Black Widow, certainly looked the part tonight in her leather pants and high boots. She still was very quiet and a little stiff. This match brought sunshine to a  lackluster show.

Match 3: Tyson Dean vs. Andy Anderson for the GA Heavyweight Championship

Kurt Kilgore was his usual adorable, obnoxious self, and as usual he was the best part of the match.  It was a no disqualification match, but there was little interference from Kilgore and little use of outside weapons other than a couple of chair shots from Dean to Anderson. I was way up in the bleachers, and I could see everything, so it was obvious to me when Dean hit Anderson with a chair that he really hit the steps. Tyson Dean won by choking Andy Anderson out.  The crowd was kind of dead for this match. I expected a lot more venom from the crowd when Dean won.

NWA Atlanta is taking a break for the holidays, and their next show will be on January 11th.
